The Acura NSX. Supercar wannabe? Or a great piece of machinery for its time?

I was thinking of getting a car, and I'm stuck between an E46 M3 or a 90s Acura NSX. I'm not planning to spend more than $35k.
I've been hearing mixed things about the Acura NSX, and I feel a little iffy spending $30k+ on a mid-90s car with lots of mileage, when I could get a newer M3 with less mileage.
I know the NSX is a reliable car, easily lasting until 300k miles if maintained right, and it's an head turner, but is the performance truly lacking?
I see it drag race and beat sports cars of it's time with no problem, but that's then, and this is now. Also, it doesn't seem very practical with only 2 seats. (I would only drive myself and maybe a friend, but if the occasion ever calls for it, I would like to seat 4 people, which the M3 seems perfect for.)
And I plan to use the car as a daily driver.
Is the NSX overpriced and overrated? Should I opt for an M3 instead?

Thanks for the suggestion of the Jaguar XKR, but I've heard nothing but bad things about them in terms of reliability.
I'm not necessarily looking for a supercar, but I would like a sporty type car with reliability, not too much power (because of gas prices), and something to serve as a daily driver.

The NSX is a great car. It is the probably the best supercar you could use everyday. The NSX will beat a M3 anyday. The NSX will handle better, accelerate faster and has a higher top speed than the M3. The M3 is so overrated. Everyone is obsessed with them. They are for little racer boys that will never get a genuine super car. A real super car is the NSX or a Porsche. M3 drivers have no friends. The NSX is very reliable, and fuel effiecient. The M3 is not very reliable, the maintanence and service is very expensive. Plus, the NSX is gorgoeus. The Japanese did a fantastic job with this car. Get the NSX.
To answer your additonal comment: As shown above, I am not a fan of the M3. However, That M3 is an exception. It is very hard to find one in that good of condition. In that case, get the M3. Make sure it was not owned by a teen in the past or anything. You don't seem like the "M3 type driver" to me.=) Just watch out for costly repairs and service costs.

Will Acura, Lexus and Audi disappear in the future?

I ask cause Honda and Toyota now have luxury options in their cars and its just going to keep adding as years come. Vw has had luxury options in their cars since the 90s but now they have luxury and sport models added on. And I hear many say there's not much of a difference in vw/Audi now.

People who buy luxury cars buy them also for their names. if you had to shell out 80,000 for a car and your choices were toyota or BMW most time you would choose the BMW. this is proven to happen with numerous cars. a really good example of this is the Hyundai Equus. it competes with the Audi A8 and BMW 7 series which both cost over 100,000 but the equus fully loaded is less than 80,000. a similar thing also happened with the VW phaeton. it was basically the same as an Audi A8 but it didn't sell as well as the actual A8.
People like knowing that others will recognize their cars as expensive.
