What would be a good car for my budget and commute?
Duo D
I'm 19, have about three to four grand to spend (max), and commute over 100 miles a day. I need a car with good gas mileage, and a reliable engine. Ive browsed the internet and heard mixed reviews on what will suit me, everything from an old sports car (reliable engine) to a hybrid (too expensive for me).

that's an opinionated question, it's what you like and you will be able to find a decent car for $4,000. if you look around, I would suggest a 4 cyl. if you want gas mileage and try to find a car that has around 70,000 miles or less.

Do I still have plenty of time to get an 8-cylinder sports car and get a good deal on it?
Q. Unfortunately, it's looking like SUVs and sports cars and other vehicles with guzzle gas are going to stop being made and no one's gonna buy them anymore. I would much rather have an 8-cylinder like a Camaro Z28 or a Firebird TransAM. Everyone else might be switching to tiny, unsafe, wimpy Hybrid cars that can't take a hit in a collison and take all day to go from 0 to 60.
I wouldn't wanna be caught dead in one of those degrading, ugly vehicles that I find to be a joke. I would much have that 300+ HP from a Firebird or a Camaro. They look more cool, are much faster, and are a little safer in case of an accident.
I hope the decreased sales will mean lower prices, not the other way around.

There aren't a lot of V-8 sports cars left. The only American ones I can think of are the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette. You can get a very good price on a Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS right now, but that is more of a sporty coupe than a sports car. 2007 was their last model year, and if there are still any on dealer lots, they will practically pay you to get ride of them.

With Peak Oil coming in 2012, you'll still have 5 good years before you can't afford to drive it anymore.
