How did the American Muscle Car represent the radical 1960s so well?

The 1960's were pretty rebellious because of Woodstock, Kennedy, etc. going on. Also, Dodge Charger B-bodys were practically the first muscle/sports car that there was. Then, came the camaros and challengers etc. It created a small war over having better muscle cars between the companies.
