What car is best for young professional?

I'm mainly looking in the sport sedan category. Price around $18-20,000. Years 2005-2006. Looks count. Power is good, but not at the cost of gas mileage. Hopefully 30+ mpg on highway. Needs front wheel or all wheel for traction. I like the BMW 3-series, but it's too expensive.

If the sticker were to be completely on the up and up, it would be on a bicycle - and not on any motorized vehicle.
