Twenty years ago, high-priced brands such as BMW and Mercedes offered luxury features that weren't available in lower cost Japanese and American brands -- features such as power windows, leather seats, good sound systems -- and had superior engineering and quality.
But today lower priced brands such as Honda and Toyota offer these same "luxury" features, have equal or superior engineering, and the same or better quality -- plus unequaled reliability.
So, today, the only thing that distinguishes "luxury" brands from other brands is -- price. For that price, you get brand reputation and prestige -- often unearned. But people are willing to pay the price simply to get exclusivity -- "I can afford it, and you can't."

It depends on what your looking for, If your into preformance, an M3 will be under 48k, if your looking for luxury, a 7 series will be round 120k
of if you want preformance with affordable prices a 3 series is for you, those go for about 25-35k
The SUV line is also top notch
