Me and my girlfriedns are looking to go away in April to Bali. I have heard good things about it and that the place is beautiful. We have been looking up prices and tickets but everything is quite expensive...does anyone have any tips? Or how much does it roughly cost to go. What are good places to stay at? And what are some good things to do/see there?

Answer
Bali is a fascinating island with many things to offer to visitors, and with a few days you can visit the most outstanding places.

From South to North I'll try to explain what is best after our experience of many years around the island.

The first glimpse every tourist has of Bali should be Kuta beach. This is a beautiful long beach in a very tourist area.

In Kuta (In fact nowadays Tuban, Kuta, Legian and Seminyak is a compact area stretching from the airport to northwest direction) you'll find plenty of restaurants, shops, nightclubs, a water park, and everything you can expect in a very tourist area. You should be very careful with the waves and currents, in Kuta beach are quite strong and sometimes dangerous.

At the southernmost part of Bali lies Bukit peninsula (view more information in our web site http://www.maxgramper.webs.com ) where there are some of the most beautiful beaches in Bali, like Balangan, Padang Padang or Jimbaran beach, a white sandy beach without the waves or currents there are in Kuta and ideal for easy swimming or for children. If one day you want to stay there we have nice houses for rent. http://www.maxgramper.webs.com

North of Kuta, about one hour by car there's Ubud, the "cultural capital" of Bali. Here you'll find a nice village surrounded by beautiful rice paddy fields and many archaeological and tourist places to visit like Goa Gajah (Elephant's cave) Monkey Forest (a forest with a temple full of sacred monkeys. Very funny for children but you should be careful, monkeys are quite naughty) and many others.

Just a few kilometers north of Ubud you can visit Pura Tirta Empul in Tampaksiring. A temple in the forest with sacred springs where Balinese take holy baths. Just near there's Gunung Kawi, maybe the most rewarding visit in the area. There are a series of very ancient stone tombs carved in the rocks. Be aware there are 300 hundred steps or more leading down to the river... and after you have to climb back...

Towards the east side of Bali you'll find Klungkung, Amlapura and Amed beaches. A succession of beautiful unspoilt beaches far away from everything (relax assured) where you can do snorkeling or diving if you wish.

Also in central part of Bali there's Besakih temple, the holiest temple in Bali. Visitors should take a local guide to be allowed to visit the temple.

And maybe the most famous spot in Bali is Tanah Lot, on the south west coast. A small but incredibly picturesque temple in the sea, perched on a rocky island. Tourists often come here for its magnificent sunsets, but if you prefer staying with a more peaceful atmosphere I would recommend visiting early in the morning when package tours haven't still arrived.

On the way north to the not so tourist beaches of Lovina (Near Singaraja) you'll pass Bratan Lake, a beautiful cool spot in the mountains with a pretty small temple in a small island in the lake.

Note that because of Bali size you can visit almost all above places in several -one day- excursions from your hotel, so you can choose to stay in one place and do excursions on a day basis.

If you're looking for a very tourist place to stay, with restaurants, shops, nightlife, etc. then Kuta, Legian or Seminyak will be your perfect location.

Jimbaran is for those who are seeking a peaceful area and a calm beach but still only twenty minutes to Kuta's nightlife area.

If your choice is staying among rice paddy fields then Ubud will be the perfect place to stay.

In Bali we have only two seasons. The dry season coming from April to September with very hot and sunny days, only occasional rains and a little cooler evenings and the wet season from October to March with hot days and rains quite often, usually with strong pourings at evenings.

In Bali you can find every accommodation you can wish. From some of the most luxury and expensive resorts or villas in the world to simply cheap hotel rooms with basic facilities and also rent your private house and enjoy more privacy and freedom.

And about daylife expenses, Bali is a quite cheap place. If you're not going only to tourist restaurants or shops and you try one of the many delicious traditional cheap places you'll discover what a delicious food you can have for very few rupiah

As for shopping, the best areas in Bali are Ubud for good quality paintings and other handicrafts and Kuta beach for clothes, dvds or other stuff like that where you'll find everything you need in markets or department stores like Kartika Discovery Mall where you'll find some high brand shop etc.

Everything you decide we wish you a very pleasant stay

who builds the best video editing computers?

sambomason

i want a non linear video editing turnkey computer system. i want someting that can handle realtime. i want someone i can trust to help me decide whats the best configuration and that has good support. Also price is important. Dont want to get ripped off.

Answer
While Alienware and the such like produce outstanding computers for video editing, the best computers are often built by individuals with the technological know how.
Alienware, Falcon Northwest V, are all outstanding machines for video editing. However, it is my opinion that these systems do not address the needs of the individual and are excessive in the technology used. You will often find that the user will hardly ever realize the power of these machines because the intended use was not only met but exceeded. Thus, you paid for technology you will never use.
Imagine your driving a Ferrari to work daily. Now, imagine the others using a Hondai excel and getting there the same time and at a lesser cost. You of course, have to pay the car note and the insurance bill for that luxury and you can never realize the power of the machine because the speed limit have curbed your desire to whip those horses under the hood into full gallop.
However, if you have someone customize your computer for the intended use, you will utilized every dollar you invested and not throw money away on gimicks you will boast of having but never use.

Get a customized system.
