BMW 5-Series Sports Wagon



The 5-Series includes BMW’s luxury midsize sedan and sport wagon, cars that have been favorites among driving enthusiasts since they were first imported to the U.S. in 1975. The 5-Series sedan was redesigned for 2004, but the wagon has not been sold in the U.S. since the previous generation 5-Series ended production at the end of the 2003 model year. The 5-Series wagon returns for 2006 as the 530xi Sports Wagon, and it has all-wheel drive for the first time. The 5-Series has always emphasized performance and an enjoyable driving experience, offering a variety of engine choices as well as both manual and automatic transmissions. For 2008 the 5-Series Sports Wagon gets a new name and more power with updates to the exterior and interior. The 300-horsepower engine in the 535xi is the most powerful Sports Wagon BMW has ever offered in the U.S.

The 2008 BMW 5-Series Sports Wagon receive similar updates to the sedan with refreshed exterior styling, a horsepower upgrade and a redesigned interior. Replacing the 530xi is the 535xi and is powered by a new twin-turbo inline-six 300-horsepower engine. The exterior is highlighted by revised headlights and taillights, front fascia and relocated DOT lenses. The interior is fitted with more storage space and ergonomic design. Other additions include a Lane Departure Warning system and Active Cruise Control with “Stop & Go” feature. The optional Sport Package upgrade adds 18-inch wheels and tire
